MISSIONS

ALCADIA is seeking an experienced ESCC Technical Writer to support ESA’s European Space Components Coordination (ESCC) Executive Secretariat.

The successful candidate will contribute directly to the development, maintenance and publication of ESCC specifications governing the qualification, procurement and use of EEE components for European space programmes.

This position is aimed at professionals with proven experience in EEE components, component qualification, Product Assurance and space standardisation activities.

PROFIL

The successful candidate will support ESA in the preparation, maintenance and publication of ESCC specifications and associated documentation.

Activities include:

ESCC Specification Development and Maintenance

  • Preparation of new revisions of ESCC specifications using MS Word.
  • Support of the complete ESCC review cycle from draft preparation through final approval and publication.
  • Development, review and maintenance of ESCC component specifications in compliance with ESCC policies, document architecture and editing rules.
  • Verification of consistency with the ESCC system and associated policies.

Document Change Request (DCR) Management

  • Technical and editorial review of Document Change Requests (DCRs).
  • Assessment of technical completeness, consistency, terminology and clarity.
  • Analysis of engineering impacts on ESCC policies and standards.
  • Proposal of modifications and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Preparation and implementation of approved DCRs.
  • Management of supplementary DCRs required to resolve editorial or technical issues.

EEE Components Expertise

  • Provide technical support regarding:
    • Electronic Components
    • Electromechanical Components
    • Materials and Processes
    • Qualification Activities
  • Review technical content related to:
    • Component qualification
    • Procurement specifications
    • Screening and testing requirements
    • Reliability requirements

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Regular interaction with ESA technical experts and ESCC Executive Secretariat.
  • Liaison with ESCC bodies and working groups.
  • Communication with EEE component manufacturers regarding technical questions and specification supportability.
  • Participation in discussions related to qualification status and retirement of obsolete specifications.

Technical Surveillance and Standardisation

  • Monitoring updates of external standards and reference documents including:
    • IEC standards
    • JEDEC standards
    • MIL standards
    • ECSS standards
    • Test methods and qualification requirements
  • Identification of impacts on the ESCC system and preparation of related DCRs.

Training and Knowledge Transfer

  • Prepare ESCC training material.
  • Support annual ESCC training sessions.
  • Contribute to workshops and technical events.

Manufacturer Support Activities

  • Participate in Manufacturer Line Surveys.
  • Support assessments related to component qualification programmes.
  • Contribute to technical reviews and audits.

SKILLS

The position requires proficiency in English. Candidates should hold a Master of Science (MSc) in Electronics Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent field. A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in EEE components, Product Assurance, and/or qualification activities is required.
